Question: I had a facelift approximately six months ago and I love my results. I still feel, however, that I don’t look as youthful as I could. Can you give me some other options for enhancing my facelift?

Dr. C arlos Wolf, partner in Miami Plastic Surgery: Having a facelift and feeling satisfied with the results is a significant achievement. But if you still feel you don’t look as young as you should, there are several complementary approaches to consider.

First, consider non-surgical treatments like Botox and fillers. Botox can smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, particularly around the eyes and forehead. Fillers can restore volume to the cheeks and lips, further enhancing facial contours.

I prefer fillers over fat grafting. Fat grafting is often asymmetric, not predictable and depends on the way your body responds. And with the new fat-loss drugs, your fat can grow or diminish based on these drugs.

Skincare is another crucial factor. Investing in high-quality skincare products tailored to your skin type can make a substantial difference. Look for products with ingredients like retinoids, hyaluronic acid and antioxidants. Regular use can improve skin texture, elasticity and hydration, giving you a radiant, youthful glow.

Laser treatments and chemical peels are also excellent options. These treatments can address issues like pigmentation, sun damage and uneven skin tone, which are not always fully corrected by a facelift. They promote collagen production and encourage the turnover of damaged skin cells.

Don’t underestimate the power of a healthy lifestyle. A balanced diet rich in antioxidants, regular exercise and adequate hydration can have a profound impact on your skin’s health. Additionally, protecting your skin from the sun with a high SPF sunscreen is essential to prevent further ageing.

Finally, consider a consultation with a facial plastic surgeon, dermatologist or aesthetic specialist. They can provide treatments tailored to your needs.
