ST. LOUIS – Happy Independence Day! On to round #3 of rain and storms this Thursday morning.

A band of heavy rain is again setting up along either side of I-70 and this is a flooding concern. This is the same corridor that saw up to 5 inches of rain early Wednesday.

The heaviest rain activity looks to move off to the east by 10 a.m., but scattered showers and storms may linger. Hopefully, we can get parades in behind the rain and get on with festival preparations.

Afternoon looks like the pick-time for Independence Day plans, though I can’t rule out a scattered shower or storm. It will be very warm and humid, with highs in the mid- to upper-80s.

One final round of storms moves in with a cold front Thursday night. Right now, the prime time for those storms looks to be 8 p.m.–2 a.m.

Some fireworks displays, especially in Illinois, may be able to get in ahead of the storms, but be ready to adjust plans.

We will dry out Friday, with highs in the mid-80s. The weekend looks nice: upper 80s Saturday and low 90s Sunday. Storm chances return Sunday night.
