Crash on I-26 kills 1 in Spartanburg Co.

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – One person died in a crash early Thursday morning on Interstate 26 in Spartanburg County.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. on the westbound lanes near mile marker 21.

Troopers said a Honda and Ford pickup truck were both traveling west when the Honda attempted to change lanes and collided with the pickup truck.

The pickup truck then went off the left side of the road and overturned.

The driver of the Honda was not injured according to troopers. The driver of the pickup truck died at the scene.

The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office has not identified the driver at this time.

The crash remains under investigation by the SCHP.
