Clinton County, Pa. — Early morning reports of plane crash in Clinton County have been confirmed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Around 10:17 a.m. on July 4, a single-engine Cessna 172 crashed in a wooded area near South Allegheny Street, Woodward Township, Clinton County. According to the FAA, the pilot of the plane was the only one on board the aircraft.

The pilot, a 17-year-old female, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Emergency crews immediately responded to the scene. The road was shutdown and life flight was called to the scene, but it was recalled a few minutes later. At 10:32 a.m., the coroner was called to the scene.

A flight plan of the aircraft shows it took off from the Williamsport Airport (IPT) and was headed to William T. Piper Memorial (LHV) in Lock Haven. The aircraft is said to belong to the flight club for Lycoming aircraft by sources close to the group, although this is yet to be confirmed by official sources.

This is a developing story. Additional information will be added as it becomes available.
