CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — There are some storms in the forecast for West Virginia , but could they rain out your Independence Day celebration?

Models predict a 90% chance of storms on Thursday, and most of north central West Virginia will probably get at least some rain. The StormTracker 12 interactive radar shows scattered showers in the early afternoon and then widespread rain with some storm cells moving through the north central region between 4 and 8 p.m.

However, while some holiday picnics might have to move inside, it looks like the sky will clear in time for fireworks around 10 p.m. on Thursday.

If you’re thinking of moving your picnic to avoid the rain, late afternoon Friday is looking equally stormy, with a line of possibly severe thunderstorms hitting the area between 3 and 5 p.m. on Friday.

Saturday is looking clearer, so if you’re worried about having to reschedule for the weather, waiting for the weekend might be your best bet.
