The Frederick County Council will need to hold a second public hearing on a proposed backyard chicken ordinance after approving an amendment to add language about how flocks must be contained.

As proposed by Councilmember Mason Carter, the bill would have allowed county residents to keep up to eight hens on residential properties with an area of at least 30,000 square feet, as long as the flock is somehow confined to the yard.
