A brief clip has gone viral on X (formerly Twitter) showing an unidentified man on a casino floor with a staff member attempting to help him. Although the date of the incident is not clear, the tragedy reportedly occurred at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands Casino (owned and operated by Las Vegas Sands) after the man hit a jackpot of $4 million Singapore Dollar, which equates to $2.95 million USD.

At some point during the celebration of his big win, the man is said to have collapsed to the floor, suffering a heart attack. Immediately after falling to the ground, staff and other people nearby visibly begin to panic and surround the man who now appears to be unconscious in the clip. One woman, who was reportedly accompanying the man, is seen distraught, begging for help from the staff and others. As the video continues, one staff member is seen attending to the man with security and more hotel staff rushing over.

The viral clip showing all of the chaos appears to have first been posted on Tuesday (June 25) by X handle @ Gidi_Traffic . The user captioned the brief video, “Man wins $4 million at a casino then DIES moments later of a heart attack. A man who hit the jackpot at Marina Bay Sands Casino in Singapore with a $4 million win, died almost immediately after from cardiac arrest due to the shock and excitement of his win.”

Many people commenting on the post shared their sadness and critical thoughts. One user wrote, “Too sad .” “Another person wrote, “Investigate the wife.” A third commented, “I don’t think it’s the shock or excitement something doesn’t just doesn’t feel right about his death at all.” A fourth said, “Casino probably did it so he doesn’t cash out…………… don’t take me seriously .”

After the clip went viral, Casino.org reported on the incident and cleared a few things up about the unidentified man in Singapore who was seen playing a high-stakes game when he hit the jackpot and caught a heart attack. The site reported that although several people on social media and initial reports suggested that the man died, he is recovering and expected to survive to enjoy his new riches once he is back to full health.

The site even offered answers for inquiring minds wondering what happens if a winner dies on the spot before cashing out. According to a 2019 Reddit thread, an alleged attorney said the earnings are paid to the gambler’s next of kin or estate, explaining, “A casino game is a contract, and believe it or not, death does not change a contract. You made an agreement with the casino that you will pay for the chance to play a game, and if the game comes out a certain way, the casino will owe you a certain amount of money.”

The response continued, “You could die before the slot machine stops spinning and your estate is still owed the winnings. As with any contract, the benefits of that contract go to the estate, and the estate will be distributed according to the will of the deceased.”
