There were only two games on July 4 with both Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark not playing. The final game of the day was the Minnesota Lynx and Connecticut Sun.

The Sun got the 78-73 victory over the Lynx. Minnesota has now dropped three of its last four games, and their forward Napheesa Collier suffered a concerning injury mid-game.

She left the game with a few minutes left in the third quarter and was quickly ruled out by the team with a left foot injury.

Collier tallied nine points with six rebounds in 24 minutes before getting injured.

Collier is having an MVP-caliber season, averaging 20.6 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists. She was also named the MVP of the WNBA Commissioner's Cup Final.

After the game, Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve, who is also set to coach Collier on the 5-on-5 Team USA Olympic team this summer, spoke about not having her star on the floor (h/t Michael Voepel of ESPN).

"Like any team losing their MVP candidate, it's a little harder, but that's sometimes what it is. We try to focus on what we do have."

Other than that, there was no official update on her status. It was a non-contact injury for Collier, so there is definite concern around the Lynx regarding their star player.

The Lynx play against the Washington Mystics on Saturday night, so Collier's status will be something to monitor.
