Henrico County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A woman and a baby were seriously injured following a hit-and-run crash that occurred Friday morning on Nine Mile Road.

The incident reportedly took place at around 1:15 a.m. on Friday, July 5. Henrico Police responded to the 5700 block of Nine Mile Road for a reported vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

Officers arrived and found the victims – a woman and an infant – in the roadway. Both were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash fled the scene, according to police.

Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that the woman was walking against traffic, traveling westbound on the shoulder of the eastbound lanes of Nine Mile Road when the driver of the vehicle was traveling in the right eastbound lane and struck the victim.

The vehicle involved is believed to be a silver sedan or coupe.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Henrico Police Crash Team Investigator R. Hostetler at 804-501-5000.
