The man suspected of killing two people in east Orange County is believed to have shot them over a narcotics dispute but details of what led to the shootings remain scant, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Leandro Correa, 48, faces murder charges as Orange deputies investigate the killings of two men shot Thursday in different neighborhoods about three miles apart. The victims were identified Friday as Jose Carrasquillo, 45, and Eduardo Soto, 27.

According to an Orange County Sheriff’s Office news release, deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 5200 block of Sailfish Street around 2:07 p.m. and found Carrasquillo. Another call 13 minutes later reported Soto was shot in the 2700 block of Appaloosa Road.

Both men were taken to a hospital where they died of their injuries.

Court records that could detail what led to the shootings have not been publicly released as of Friday morning, but the OCSO news release said the killing of Carrasquillo is “related to narcotics.” What led to the shooting of Soto has not been released as detectives “take time developing those charges.”

Correa was arrested in Volusia County later that night, an affidavit released by the Sheriff’s Office said, and he’s currently in the Orange County Jail without bond.
