Since coming to New England in 2021, Matthew Judon has been a Patriots fan-favorite. And with the team prioritizing extending their homegrown and veteran talent, many were hoping that the four-time linebacker would be on that list.

However, his recent posts on social media have caused fans to worry.

It started when Judon relied to a post from one fan about his current contract situation.

"If the @Patriots don't give @man_dammn an extension this season we're fucked... pay the man what he wants, we want a solid defense," the fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The linebacker hinted that it wasn't going to happen.

"Ion think that's about to happen," Judon replied.

    And he didn't stop there.

On July 3, Judon posted a gif with no context, and it had fans thinking it was another hint.

This is a big change from April when Judon made a bold comment about his possible future with the Patriots.

“I think with the contract stuff, if it happens it happens” Judon told WEEI's Mike Kadlick said . “If we can get a new contract worked out to where I try to end my career in Boston, that’d be great.”

He is set to be a free agent in 2025, but has made it clear that he hopes the team will keep him around.

Based on what Judon brings to the table, the Patriots should be doing everything they can to ensure the linebacker retires in New England.

Judon tore his lower bicep in Week 4 of the 2023 season and was placed on injured reserve. He has spent a lot of time rehabbing and has confirmed during an appearance on Good Morning Football and to WEEI that he is ready to get back no the field.

“I’ve been healthy and I’ve been ready,” Judon said. “So it’s just whenever that time comes, I’mma be ready.”

Plus, he is excited about this new era in New England and has high hopes for the new head coach

“And I think Mayo is going to be an amazing head coach for us, help us out, and try to right the ship,” Judon explained. “It’s new. Everything’s new.

In the four games prior to Judon's injury, he already had four sacks. And the season prior, he finished with a career-high 15.5 sacks.”

And Mayo's views seem to be aligned with Judon's, saying that he wants to keep him around.

"There's no question we want a guy like Judon," Mayo said at the 2024 NFL League Meeting. "And going back to keeping our own, when Judon was in Baltimore, he just happened to be this great guy and a great fit, a culture add for us. And we want to keep Judon. We want to keep him, but that’s more of a question for Eliot. But those conversations have started. We know that he’s still a premier rusher in this league. As we continue to go forward, we want him to be a piece of the puzzle."

So let's see if Judon's time with the Patriots is coming to an end.
