    Albemarle Police investigating armed carjacking that led to multi-vehicle crash

    ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Albemarle County Police Department is investigating after locating suspects of an armed carjacking which led to a crash involving two other vehicles.

    At around 7:38 a.m. on Friday, July 5, an officer with the Albemarle County Police Department observed a vehicle driving erratically along southbound Seminole Trail, which was returned stolen out of Fairfax County during an armed carjacking earlier in the day.

    When the officer initiated a traffic stop, the vehicle refused to stop and drove at a high-rate of speed down Seminole Trail. According to authorities, as the stolen vehicle entered the intersection of Greenbrier Drive, it struck two vehicles.

    The driver and passenger in the stolen vehicle, both identified as juveniles, were transported to an area hospital. One juvenile sustained injuries considered not life-threatening, while the other is in serious condition.

    The drivers of the other vehicles involved in the crash were evaluated at the scene for injuries considered not life-threatening.

    According to officials, a firearm was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle.
