    • Raychel Sheridan was reported missing Tuesday. Her body was found Wednesday morning by Canton City employees emptying trash in Mother Goose Land Park.
    • Sean Goe, 26, was arrested Wednesday on outstanding warrants for misdemeanor domestic violence and criminal damaging, as well as a felony charge of grand theft of a firearm and burglary.
    • Sheriff George Maier said his office has spoken to the county prosecutor and he's confident charges against Goe, Sheridan's boyfriend, are forthcoming.

CANTON ‒ Charges will be filed next week over the death of Raychel Sheridan, according to Stark County Sheriff George Maier.

Maier said his office has spoken to the county prosecutor and he's confident charges against Sean Goe, Sheridan's boyfriend, are forthcoming.

Sheridan was reported missing Tuesday. Her body was found Wednesday morning by Canton City employees emptying trash in Mother Goose Land Park.

Goe, 26, was arrested Wednesday on outstanding warrants for misdemeanor domestic violence and criminal damaging, as well as a felony charge of grand theft of a firearm and burglary.

On Friday, Goe appeared via video conference from the Stark County Jail in front of Canton Municipal Judge Kristen Guardado. His attorney, Public Defender Christopher Fisher, asked for a status hearing.

Guardado set a status hearing for 10:30 a.m. July 10. Goe remains jailed on a $500,000 bond. Goe pleaded no contest to a charge of driving without a seat belt and was fined a mandatory $30 fine and court costs.

    What happened to Raychel Sheridan?

Sheriff's deputies went to Sheridan's apartment on Tuesday after her mother alerted authorities that the Plain Township woman had not been seen or heard from since Saturday, and that she did not show up for work on Monday.

Maier said deputies found the door to her Orchard Dale Drive NW apartment open and no one inside. Sheridan shared the apartment with Goe. Deputies, he said, felt something was amiss and got a search warrant.

While at the apartment, deputies spotted Goe driving Sheridan's Jeep Liberty and stopped the vehicle. Goe fled the vehicle on foot and ran into a densely wooded area, according to investigators.

An extensive search by deputies, the Northern Ohio Fugitive Task Force, Ohio Highway Patrol's aviation team and patrol's Community Emergency Response Team did not locate Goe Tuesday.

He was arrested Wednesday morning by Canton police at a Canton homeless shelter after people at the shelter recognized him from the media reports and contacted police, Maier said.

Stark sheriff: Raychel Sheridan is a victim of 'a cycle of violence'

Investigators have tried to speak with Goe about Sheridan's death but Maier said he has been uncooperative.

    He believes Goe acted alone.

"We don't know all of the facts of what happened that led to the murder but there has been some history of domestic violence," the sheriff said. "She is certainly a victim of a cycle of domestic violence."

According to a domestic violence criminal complaint filed in May, a Stark deputy alleged that "Sean Goe did knowingly make the mother of his unborn child, Raychel Sheridan, believe that he was going to cause her serious physical harm by saying, 'I'm going to (expletive) you up!'"

The deputy also alleged Goe cut holes in the tires of Sheridan's vehicle so she could not drive.

Maier said Sheridan's family said there were incidents of physical and verbal abuse, including once where Sheridan explained a bruise on her head as an accident after hitting her head on a vehicle door.

Authorities have not said how Sheridan died. They are awaiting an autopsy from the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner will conduct.

Sheridan's body was discovered inside a garbage can, similar to a residential can, Maier said.

According to a call made by Canton City Park's Department employee to a Canton Police Department non-emergency line, a worker found the body while emptying trash cans in Mother Goose Land Park.

The caller said they began to dump the can and observed a leg. The body was found wrapped in plastic.

"We got (Goe) and he is not going anywhere," the sheriff said. "We have the time to make sure we know what happened."
