Woman dies in July 4th motorcycle accident in Raleigh County

RALEIGH COUNTY, WV ( WVNS ) — An investigation remains active after a woman died in a motorcycle accident in Raleigh County on July 4th.

According to an incident report from the Troop 6 of the West Virginia State Police, Troopers responded to a single motorcycle accident at the 2300 block of Route 3, Hinton Road in Raleigh County on Thursday, July 4, 2024. Once on scene, it was discovered the female passenger, identified as 68-year-old Katherine Ann Workman, of Cyclone, died on scene due to the injuries she sustained.

The driver of the motorcycle, 73-year-old Danny Franklin Workman, also of Cylcone, was taken to Raleigh General Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

According to the WVSP report, it is believed that alcohol played a factor in the accident.

At this time, it is unclear whether any official charges have been filed as the investigation remains active.
