    Vehicle carjacked in Fairfax Co. involved in crash on other side of state

    ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — Police said an officer who saw a car moving erratically Friday found out that it was stolen during a carjacking hours earlier.

    The Albemarle County Police Department (ACPD) said the officer saw the car on Seminole Trail around 7:40 a.m. The officer ran the plates, and learned the car had been taken during an armed carjacking in Fairfax County on the opposite side of the state.

    The officer tried to stop the car, but the driver sped off. It entered the intersection of Seminole Trail and Greenbrier Drive where it hit two other vehicles. No one in those vehicles were seriously hurt.

    The driver and the passenger inside the stolen car were minors. Medics took them to University of Virginia Medical Center for treatment. One was hurt seriously. The other had minor injuries.

    Police also recovered a gun from the stolen vehicle.
