New Castle County releases video of woman's controversial arrest caught on social media

New Castle County released police body-cam video of four of its officers arresting a woman who refused multiple police orders following a traffic stop on Saturday in a Royal Farms parking lot in Bear, reports Esteban Parra.

“The arrest, which was captured on video by onlookers, went viral on social media as it showed two of the officers striking the woman in the head multiple times after she'd already been taken down to the ground,’’ Esteban writes.

“The onlookers' video lead to county officials releasing the police body-cam video in order to provide the public ‘with information regarding a car stop that resulted in a use-of-force incident,’ police said in their statement. The video was released on Thursday, during the Fourth of July holiday — three days after county officials said the video would be released and that the Saturday incident was under investigation.’’
