Madonna says 'life is beautiful' a year after being hospitalized for bacterial infection

Madonna has shared that "life is beautiful" a year after being hospitalized for a bacterial infection that forced her to postpone her tour.

Last June, the hitmaker left her fans worried when she developed a "serious bacterial infection" which led to the singer postponing her world tour after reports claimed she had been "constantly pushing herself".

When the news of Madonna's health scare broke last year, reports said that the star was "intubated" for at least one night before having the tube removed, with her daughter Lourdes remaining by her side throughout the ordeal. Intubation is a process where a tube is inserted through a person's mouth or nose, with it then going down to their trachea (which is also known as the airway or windpipe).

Prior to her ICU stay and intubation, Madonna was found "unresponsive", with her said to be recovering at home with medical care after the ordeal.

After Madonna's ICU stay, her manager Guy Oseary announced: "Her health is improving, however, she is still under medical care." He also added: "A full recovery is expected," with this happening.

Madonna has now addressed her ill health last year and the incredible recovery she made. She said: "A year ago today, I had just come home from the hospital after surviving a life-threatening illness, I could barely stand in my backyard holding one sparkler."

She went on to add: "I made a miraculous recovery and had an amazing year. Thank you God. Life is beautiful! Happy 4th of July," she penned. The caption accompanied some snaps from her Independence Day celebrations.

The snaps saw Madonna celebrating with loved ones at The Standard, High Line in New York. The hitmaker could be seen wearing a red satin outfit, with her blonde locks worn down and tousled as her hair cascaded over her shoulders.

Commenting on the snaps, one person said: "God save the Queen." Another added: "What a difference a year can make! Heck, what a difference a f---ing minute can make!! You are a miracle".
