GLOUCESTER TWP. — A fire here Friday afternoon injured three firefighters and sent dark smoke billowing over the area.

Police officers spotted heavy smoke around 3:30 p.m. and located the blaze behind Marksman Transport at 1900 Erial Road, according to Gloucester Township police.

The flames were contained to several large box trailers and a truck, said a police account.

The response to the blaze included multiple fire departments from Gloucester Township, as well as from Cherry Hill, Pennsauken and Voorhees.

Three firefighters were taken to local hospitals with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. No employees of the business were injured.

Part of Erial Road was closed for several hours as firefighters brought the blaze under control.

"At this time the fire does not appear to be suspicious and will remain under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshal's Office and the fire marshal from the Erial Fire Department," the police statement said.
