On Wednesday, ESPN revealed the public vote results for this year's All-Star starters. The biggest stars in the game were among the players elected, including Phillies star Bryce Harper and Yankees slugger Aaron Judge. Harper and Judge had previously received automatic invitations as each league's top vote-getters in phase 1 of voting.

The Philadelphia Phillies led the way with three representatives from the league, followed by the Arizona Diamondbacks, Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Guardians, Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, New York Yankees, San Diego Padres, and the Toronto Blue Jays.

The entire 2024 All-Star lineups for both teams—including pitchers and position player reserves—will be unveiled on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

    Catchers

    American League: Adley Rutschman (Orioles)

Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson, the star duo of the Orioles, will start together in the All-Star Game for the first time. After playing as a reserve for the AL team in 2023, Rutschman is an All-Star for the second time, and he's having his finest season to date in 2024. Adley, 26, is batting .288 for the leading O's, with 15 home runs and 55 RBIs.

    National League: William Contreras (Brewers)

After being a reserve behind his brother Willson in 2022, Contreras was selected for his second career All-Star team, his first as a starter. With Sean Murphy getting the start last year and Buster Posey in 2021, the Contreras family has combined to win the NL starting catcher job four times since 2018. William, 26, is batting .298 with 51 RBIs and a .804 OPS.

    First Base

American League: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Blue Jays)

Guerrero Jr. has been an All-Star for four straight seasons and a starter for three of those four years. Vlad, the most recent winner of the Home Run Derby, will try to show off his strength in the park where he has homered only once since 2021. Guerrero, 25, is hitting .296 with 13 home runs and a .840 OPS.

    National League: Bryce Harper (Phillies)

By now, Harper has established himself as a staple in the All-Star Games, garnering his eighth overall selection and seventh starting spot (the only time he appeared in the game as a reserve was during his rookie season in 2012). After having a rough start to the season, Harper turned things around in a prominent manner in May and June. Bryce, 31, is hitting .303 with 20 home runs, 58 RBIs, and a .981 OPS.

    Second Base

    American League: Jose Altuve (Astros)

Altuve is a starter for the sixth time in his career and an All-Star for the ninth time. He is one of just four active players who has received votes from fans to start as the second baseman. Only Roberto Alomar (nine), Ryne Sandberg (nine), and Joe Morgan (seven) have more starting elections than Altuve. Jose, 34, is hitting .308 with 13 home runs and 13 stolen bases.

    National League: Ketel Marte (D-Backs)

Five years after being selected as a starter for his breakout 2019 season, in which he placed fourth in the NL MVP voting, Marte has been chosen for his second All-Star team. It's not Marte's fault that the D-backs, who won the NL pennant a year ago, are currently in fourth place in the NL West. Ketel, 30, is batting .288 with 51 RBIs and a .868 OPS.

    Shortstop

    American League: Gunnar Henderson (Orioles)

In the most star-studded contest on the ballot, Henderson defeated fellow shortstop sensation Bobby Witt Jr. to earn a spot in his first career All-Star Game. Henderson has a case to be the best all-around player in baseball this year. Gunnar, 23, is batting .289 with 27 home runs, 13 stolen bases, and .987 OPS.

    National League: Trea Turner (Phillies)

The Phillies are the first NL team to have at least three infielders selected as starters since the Cubs did so back in 2016. Those players also had a respectable season finale. Though it is unclear if the Phillies will follow suit, it is known that Turner has returned from a six-week absence due to a hamstring ailment quite swiftly. Trea, 31, is hitting a .340 with 5 home runs and a .868 OPS.

    Third Base

    American League: Jose Ramirez (Guardians)

Ramirez has been an All-Star six times; however, this is the first time he has started since 2018. He and teammate Steven Kwan will start the 2024 All-Star Game. Cleveland, along with the Astros, Orioles, and Yankees, are the four AL teams with more than one starter. Jose, 31, is batting .273 with 16 stolen bases, 23 home runs, and 76 RBIs.

    National League: Alec Bohm (Phillies)

While his corner infield partner, Harper, is an All-Star veteran, Bohm is anything but, as this is his first career All-Star selection. The third overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft has put it all together in a breakout season. He’s been a significant asset in the Phillies holding MLB’s best record. Alec, 27, is hitting .296 with 70 RBIs and a .835 OPS.

    Designated Hitter

    American League: Yordan Alvarez (Astros)

Despite being one of baseball's most feared sluggers for several years, Alvarez will make his first All-Star Game start. He was previously selected as a reserve for the AL in 2022 and 2023. Yordan struggled to compete against Shohei Ohtani, who started the last three AL All-Star Games as DH before moving to the NL this year. Alvarez, 27, is hitting .302 with 19 home runs and a .938 OPS.

    National League: Shohei Ohtani (Dodgers)

Ohtani has started in the All-Star Game for the past 4 seasons. He is tied with Aaron Judge for the longest active streak among MLB players. Shohei, 30, is batting .316 with 27 home runs, 64 RBIs, and a 1.035 OPS.

    Outfield

    American League: Aaron Judge (Yankees)

The two biggest stars of the Bronx, Judge and Soto, will line up in the AL outfield together. Judge, leading the Majors in home runs, RBIs, and OPS, earned his starting position as MLB's overall top vote-getter in phase 1. Only Bryce Harper and Mike Trout have earned more starter selections among active players than Judge. Aaron, 32, is batting .314 with 32 home runs, 83 RBIs and a 1.135 OPS.

    Juan Soto (Yankees)

Despite being an All-Star for four years, Soto will start this season for the first time. He is also being selected to the All-Star squad for the third time in three seasons, having previously done so for the Padres in 2023 and the Nationals in 2022. Juan, 25, is hitting .300 with 21 home runs and a 1.006 OPS.

    Steven Kwan (Guardians)

Thanks to an incredible season thus far, Kwan is an All-Star for the first time. Steven's batting average puts him in a position to seize the lead in the MLB batting competition as soon as he receives a few further plate appearances to be listed on the league standings. Kwan, 26, is batting .367 with 26 RBIs and a .962 OPS.

    National League: Christian Yelich (Brewers)

Yelich's time with the Brewers has not been without significant ups and downs. After winning the National League MVP award in 2018 and starting as an All-Star in 2019, he struggled for two seasons (2021–2022) with an OPS below.740 before turning things around. His third career All-Star selection—his second as a starter—has come about due to that comeback. Christian, 32, is hitting .329 with 37 RBIs and a .921 OPS.

    Jurickson Profar (Padres)

After making his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut in 2012 at the age of 19, Profar was a highly anticipated talent. His career did not take off after that, primarily because of a shoulder injury that kept him out of the 2014 and 2015 seasons. He was a career .242 hitter going into the 2024 season, having recently signed a one-year contract with San Diego, where he was primarily expected to be a backup. Jurickson, 31, is batting .317 with 56 RBIs and a .893 OPS.

    Fernando Tatis Jr. (Padres)

Tatis has been selected for his first All-Star team since missing all of 2022 due to injury and suspension. He was an All-Star shortstop in 2021, but because of his arm strength in the 99th percentile in MLB, he is being selected as an outfielder for the first time. Fernando, 25, is batting .279 with 36 RBIs and a .822 OPS.
