Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark has topped headlines yet again. Not because she led her team to one of the biggest upsets of the 2024 WNBA season with an 83-78 win over the New York Liberty, but because she achieved something no other WNBA rookie has ever achieved.

Clark recorded her first professional triple-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds and 13 assists, marking the first-ever WNBA triple-double by a rookie. This significant achievement has propelled her to the front of the Rookie of the Year race once again, with Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese right behind her.

Following the game, Fever head coach Christie Sides spoke to the media in a postgame press conference. When asked to make a case for Clark as Rookie of the Year, Sides compared her to WNBA superstar Diana Taurasi.

“I’m always going to make a case for my players. First and foremost, she is the most competitive human being I’ve ever met. I really compare her to Diana Taurasi. She's always looking to find ways to get better,” Sides said.

Clark and Taurasi faced each other for the first time last Sunday when the Phoenix Mercury hosted the Fever, and Indiana stole the game with an 88-82 victory.

Taurasi is one of the best players to ever play in the WNBA. She is a three-time WNBA champion and a former MVP. Like LeBron James in the NBA, Taurasi has been in the WNBA for 20 years and is still competing at a high level.
