Arsenal has finally unveiled is first signing of the summer, as fans eagerly anticipate more new arrivals .

David Raya is now officially a Gunner , with the club making his loan move from Brentford permanent. Goalkeeper Lucas Nygaard also joined on a free transfer late last month after leaving Nordsjaelland and impressing during a trial in north London.

With the Copa America and European Championship now reaching the quarter-final stage, the transfer market is expected to heat up. Reports suggest that Arsenal has reached an agreement on personal terms with Riccardo Calafiori , who is a Liverpool target.

The Italian international is believed to have agreed to a five-year contract with Arsenal. Talks are ongoing with his current club, Bologna, over a transfer fee. Bologna is reportedly asking for around £42 million ($53.7 million) for the central defender, according to Fabrizio Romano, who notes that no transfer fee has been finalised between the clubs yet.

Adding a layer of complexity to the negotiations is the 50 percent sell-on fee Basel are entitled to for any fee over $5 million. This is roughly what the Swiss club sold Calafiori for last summer, a year after acquiring the defender from Roma.

Liverpool.com says: It's not over until it's over! Although Arsenal is now in the driving seat for Calafiori, Liverpool should keep fighting for his signature considering his impressive performances for Italy at Euro 2024. He's an accomplished left-footed defender who can offer the Reds something different, and $50 million isn't a huge transfer fee in the modern game. Watch this space!
