Trent Alexander-Arnold had his family watching on from the stands as he sent England through to the Euro 2024 semi-finals, and they couldn’t hide their delight during his big moment .

The Three Lions booked their place in the final four in Germany after overcoming Switzerland in a penalty shootout. Once again, it was far from a convincing performance from Gareth Southgate’s side, who had to come from behind after Breel Embolo’s goal.

Bukayo Saka’s strike 10 minutes from time rescued England, with the game going to penalties after extra time yielded no more goals. With his nation ahead after Jordan Pickford saved Manuel Akanji’s first effort, it was up to Alexander-Arnold to send them through to the semi-finals.

And he did just that, showing true composure despite having only been brought on a few minutes earlier by Southgate as he sent Yann Sommer the wrong way and buried his spot-kick with aplomb .

Cue the delirious scenes in the crowd in Dusseldorf, with Alexander-Arnold’s family right in the center of it.

The Liverpool vice-captain’s two brothers, Tyler and Marcell, were watching on with their mother Dianne, with a video posted to social media showing how they reacted when Trent scored the decisive penalty.

His brothers couldn’t contain their excitement as they celebrated the magic moment, with Marcell posting the moment on Instagram alongside a picture with Trent after the game.

Next up for Alexander-Arnold and England is a meeting with Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo as the Netherlands await in the semi-finals.

Liverpool.com says: What a moment for Alexander-Arnold and his family. You can only imagine what the reaction would have been like had he not scored, so to have the composure and nerves of steel in that moment really demonstrates the kind of player he is. Now it’s time for Southgate to give him his proper chance…
