Relief from scorching temperatures expected over next few days

It is slightly warmer, back to average temps in the low 90s today. More humidity is in the area, and you will notice it as we feel closer to the upper 90s today, back to triple digits tomorrow.

Sunshine gives way to more cloud cover throughout the day while we prepare for our next round of weather: Tropical Rain and Storms.

Tropical Storm ... soon to be Hurricane Beryl ... is slowing down, pressure is dropping as it makes its way through the Gulf of Mexico indicating that it is strengthening. The storm is nearing the Texas coastline where Hurricane Warnings are in place as the area braces for the storm's final landfall overnight into the early Monday AM hours expected as a Cat 1 storm.

Here in the Mid-South, we will begin to feel the impacts from the remnants of Beryl Monday evening through Wednesday. As the storm exits it takes that moisture as far as precipitation goes with it, but draws up Gulf moisture in its wake leaving the area with lower temperatures that steadily climb with triple digit feel likes returning into the weekend.

The storms are now tracking into NW Ark and we will still feel those outer lying impacts: 2-4+" of rainfall with localized flooding potential, especially in NE Ark and the MO Bootheel; Gusty Winds are possible with storms; Severe threats are very low at this time.

HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• Sunday is warm but less humid
• Rain chances return on Monday
• Heavy rain and some gusty winds possible on Tuesday and Wednesday
• Hurricane Beryl will make landfall in Texas Monday
• Remnants of Beryl are what causes our chances for rain on Tuesday and Wednesday
• Heavy rain, flooding, gusty winds, a few strong storms all possible
• Warm and dry after Wednesday through next weekend

FORECAST:

MONDAY: Mostly sunny early with clouds increasing throughout the day. A chance for some isolated showers or thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening. Rain from Beryl begins to spread north into the Mid-South late. Highs in the mid to upper 80s. High of 89 degrees. Winds SW 5-10mph.

TUESDAY: Periods of rain. Some thunderstorms are possible. Rainfall greater than an inch is possible. This is all from the remnants of Beryl that will move through the Mid-South. Localized flooding and gusty winds are possible. Highs in the 80s. High of 85 degrees. Winds S 10-20mph. WEDNESDAY: Periods of rain. Some thunderstorms are possible.
