MADISON COUNTY, Iowa – It was a busy Saturday night for officials in Madison county who
responded to three serious crashes within hours of each other.

According to a post on the Madison County Sheriff’s Office page, the first incident happened around 6:40 p.m. 911 dispatchers received a flood of calls regarding a hit and run traffic accident involving a woman with three children in her vehicle. According to deputies, the woman’s vehicle was rear-ended in the 2000 block of State Highway 92 by someone in a white pick-up truck. That driver then fled the scene heading east in the direction of Winterset.

Luckily, neither the woman, nor her children were injured, said MCSO.

Around the same time, multiple 911 calls came in regarding a motorcycle crash in a completely separate area. The post stated the motorcyclist “suffered life threatening injuries after he collided with a passenger car.” This incident happened near Macksburg Road and U.S. Highway 169. The motorcyclist was reportedly taken to the hospital. There was no update on his condition as of late Sunday morning.

A couple of hours after the first two incidents, a call came in regarding a single vehicle crash in the 2000 block of Bevington Y Park Road, according to MCSO. It was around 8:50 p.m. when the driver of a classic car rolled the car and was ejected and ended up pinned underneath. Firefighters from St. Charles and Truro were able to free the driver, and he was transported by air ambulance to a Des Moines Hospital in an unknown condition, said the post.

The Winterset Police Department, the Union County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Winterset Fire Department, St. Charles Fire Department, Truro Fire Department and Madison County Ambulance all assisted the Madison County Sheriffs Office in their various responses Saturday night.

The sheriff’s office said that all three crashes remain under investigation.
