Sweden is an up and coming nation on the international scene. They have a large group of young stars coming to the NCAA over the next two years, and it's certain to make a big difference in development. Couple that with a group of veteran stars stepping into the PWHL this year, and Sweden is ripe to join the international elite in time for the 2026 Olympics.

Here's a look at how Sweden's women's hockey Olympic Games roster could unfold for 2026.

    Goaltenders

Emma Soderberg was spectacular in 2023, and just ok in 2024. She hasn't played a lot, and that could be a factor. Behind her is a group of upcoming netminders and because of the playing time available in the SDHL, that list could also include Ebba Svensson Träff, Maja Helge, Lisa Jönsson, or Ida Boman.

    Tindra Holm

    Defenders

There's depth at the position, although almost all of their defenders are right handed, a rarity these days. Joining the NCAA ranks with notable programs in the next two years are Jenna Raunio and Linnea Natt och Dag, who will both factor into Sweden's future national program, but will they be there in time for 2026? If so, expect to see them at the World Championships next year. Veteran Linnea Andersson will be pushed hard for the final roster spot, and youngster Emma Forsgren will look to continue her climb into Sweden's roster.

    Forwards

The players who are likely to make up Sweden's 2026 Olympic roster up front are most likely already on the roster. There could be a few surprises develop, but they have a group of teenagers already in the lineup, and watching their growth from within, alongside the potential development of their roster through transfers to the PWHL is their best bet at a next step forward up front. Watch for Hanna Olsson and Sara Hjalmarsson to make the jump to North America next season.
