UPDATE: Sheriff Chris Swanson has identified the victim as 38-year-old Orhan Hosic. “Orhan was shot multiple times,” Swanson said. His family returned home and found him dead after 5 p.m.

Swanson said Hosic was originally from the Detroit area. He was running a business from his Fenton Township home.

“We do have some leads that I can’t talk about right now,” Swanson said.

I can tell you that it’s not random–it was very deliberate,” the sheriff went on to say.

Officials are continuing to ask anyone with information to call 810-257-3422 or 911 .

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Genesee County sheriff’s officials are asking the public for useful information as they investigate a “suspicious death” this weekend as a homicide.

The sheriff’s office responded at about 5:49 p.m. Saturday, July 6 to a house near Thompson and Jennings roads in Fenton Township, for a report of “a suspicious death,” Sheriff Chris Swanson said in a video on Facebook .

When they arrived, they found a 38-year-old person dead.

After canvassing the area, officials concluded that shots had been fired around 3 p.m. Someone had observed a recent-style orange Chevrolet Camaro in the area at about that time.

“We are treating this as a homicide,” Swanson said in the video post. “This is an active scene at the corner of Thompson and Jennings road.”

Swanson added later that “this is very uncommon, for it to happen here in [Fenton] township.”

The sheriff said the area is now considered safe and that there is no further danger to the public. The orange Chevy Camaro is being considered a “vehicle of interest.”

Swanson is asking anyone who’s seen or interacted with the orange Camaro, or who has any information, to call dispatch at 810-257-3422, or to call 911.

“We have more updates that are coming,” Swanson said.
