In the realm of sports, it's not uncommon for athletes to receive fines for their actions. While some fines are justified when rules are broken or when there's inappropriate behavior towards fans or others, there are instances where the fines seem utterly absurd. Such was the case with French cyclist Julien Bernard recently.

Julien Bernard was cycling in the Tour de France and it was located in Burgundy. This was the home region for Bernard where a lot of his friends and family were. Among those in attendance were his young son and his wife so he decided to stop to kiss them during the event.

It seems the Union Cycliste Internationale was displeased and considered his actions improper. They even described it as "an inappropriate event that damaged the image of the sport." What is so damaging about showing love to your family? Apparently, shame on him according to the UCI.

The Union Cycliste Internationale decided to punish Bernard by fining him 200 Swiss francs (223 US Dollars) as a result of this "heinous' infraction. The ICU should use that money to get better security. A ton of fans were storming the track including Julien Bernard supporters. Was he supposed to run them over, especially when his wife and son were in the crowd?

It was in French, but the English translation of what Bernard said was, "And sorry @UCI_cycling  for having damaged the image of Sport. But I am willing to pay 200CHF every day and relive this moment."

It Sounds like the money he paid for this fine, was money well spent.

How come when Bernard does it he gets fined, but when Magnus Cort does the same action, he doesn't? Even Magnus Cort would agree with that with the reply he had to Bernard's apology.

Cort even did that a few days ago too. It makes no sense that he doesn't get fined, but Bernard does. Magnus Cort was hilarious with posting that and Bernard responded by saying they should double the fine. That is just hilarious.

It's just a shame that a fun event like this is scarred this year by this ridiculous fine. It honestly will go down as one of the dumbest and stupidest fines in sports history.
