Body found on beach at Tower Road in Delaware Seashore State Park, police investigating

Update: Around 5 p.m. Sunday, Ali said foul play is not suspected in the death and no further information will be released. Tower Road beach and parking lot have reopened.

Delaware State Police are conducting a death investigation at the Tower Road beach within Delaware Seashore State Park, just south of Dewey Beach.

Around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, the south side of the Tower Road parking lot and beach were closed to the public. A medical examiner's truck was present in the parking lot and a dozen or so police and other officials were on the beach. Several appeared to be examining something in the dune.

Delaware State Police spokesperson Cpl. Amina Ali confirmed the death investigation but said she did not yet have any other details.

The Tower Road bathhouse and concessions remained open Sunday, as did the north side of the beach.
