Brandon Aiyuk has been pretty consistent in making his dissatisfaction about his contract negotiations with the San Francisco 49ers.

The All-Pro wide receiver claimed to Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels in a video posted on TikTok that the 49ers said they did not want him back . He later walked back that statement in an appearance on 'The Pivot'.

On that same podcast, he conceded to taking negotiations and the 49ers' offers to him 'personal'.

Aiyuk has since met with 49ers general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan to air his grievances. It was reported the meeting went well but, with no reports of progress in talks, the 2020 first-round pick was back on TikTok on Sunday.

This time his post featured him watching tape of Daniels practicing with the Commanders, who drafted Aiyuk's former Arizona State teammate second overall in this year's draft.

Aiyuk's close friendship with Daniels has led to talk, predominantly confined to the world of social media, about a potential trade to Washington for the wide receiver.

ESPN's Adam Schefter said last month that the 49ers and Commanders did engage in some talks about Aiyuk around the draft. However, Washington decided not to do the deal.

Aiyuk also talked up the possibility of playing with Daniels during his appearance on 'The Pivot'.

"I'm thinking about what I can do with him," said Aiyuk. "I'm thinking about, if the Niners don't want me to come back to play with them, I'm thinking about what I can do. I know what I can do."

Aiyuk had 1,192 yards receiving in his final season at Arizona State in 2019 with Daniels at quarterback. Still, the odds of him reuniting with Daniels remain slim. The 49ers will not countenance an Aiyuk trade without receiving significant assets that could influence their 2024 fortunes. Once the first round of the draft passed, the chances of them trading their leading receiver rapidly diminished.

Still, Aiyuk's willingness to keep stirring the pot indicates the 49ers have a lot of work to do to get a deal done. With a little over two weeks until training camp, when the 49ers tend to get such extensions signed, time is of the essence.
