Davis Thompson's Payout From First PGA Tour Win, Revealed

The John Deere Classic took place over the weekend in Illinois at the TPC Deere Run, the latest PGA Tour event. However, the winner was a first-timer, as Davis Thompson sealed the deal by shooting 28 under in a historic performance at the John Deere Classic.

Thompson defeated the runner-ups by four strokes as three golfers finished in a three-way tie for second place. Thompson's first-ever PGA Tour victory earned him a hefty payday , per Cameron Jourdan of Golf Week.

Davis Thompson's win earned him a $1,440,000 payout, as the second-place winners got a $712,000 payout, except for C.J. Pan (due to being an amateur).

The last-place finisher, Lee Hodges, took home just over $15,000 in a payout from the John Deere Classic.

Thompson shot seven-under in the final round on Sunday and was grateful for the way the round started (h/t Associated Press).

“I’m just thankful it worked out. I got off to a great start today and was able to just kind of cruise on the back nine. Getting off to a good start was crucial, and I was just able to ride the momentum coming in.”

Thompson now moves to No. 22 in the FedEx Cup standings after the win at the John Deere Classic.
