Report: Bayern winger Sané undergoes surgery shortly after Euros exit

Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sané has undergone groin surgery shortly after Germany's exit from the Euro 2024, the Bild newspaper and broadcasters Sky reported on Monday.

Sané has been dealing with pubic bone issues for some time and according to the reports, he hopes to be able to be recovered at the end of July.

Despite the long-standing injury, Sané was called up by coach Julian Nagelsmann to Germany's home Euros. The hosts, however, were eliminated following a 2-1 defeat to Spain after extra time in the quarter-finals.

Sané started the game against Spain but was subbed off during half-time due to the pain.

He will now hope to be free of pain to start the season with Bayern under new coach Vincent Kompany, whom he knows from his time at Manchester City in the Premier League.
