(Union County) Due to issues in the water distribution system, Residents in Union and Madison counties are under a ‘Drinking Water Advisory’ until early next week. Customers in specific areas are advised to boil water before consumption. The Southern Iowa Rural Water Association is working to lift the advisory after completing repairs and conducting bacterial tests. The advisory is expected to expire by Tuesday’s end, with free water cases available for residents in need. Check the SIRWA website for updates on the situation.

According to the Southern Iowa Rural Water Association (SIRWA), the water distribution system north of Afton, Lorimor, Thayer, and surrounding areas experienced issues on Thursday night (July 4). As a result, customer accounts ending with numbers 055, 003, 063, or 064 are included in the notice.
