King Charles has been advocating for a more streamlined monarchy , avoiding the traditional crowded scenes on the Buckingham Palace balcony with non-working royals . However, with both the Princess of Wales and the Princess Royal unavailable, it's clear that the Royal Family is stretched thin as they maintain their duties and charitable endeavors.

Despite this, there's no sign that they're planning to expand the Royal workforce, a move that former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond supports. "I still hold to the idea that the slimmed down Royal Family IS indeed the right mode l for the future," Jennie shared with OK! She believes that this approach aligns with other European monarchies and addresses the common complaints about the cost of the royals to taxpayers.

She further stated: "Adding new working royals to the payroll will only exacerbate that criticism. I think the model William has experimented with is the answer: drafting in his cousins here and there (e.g. garden parties) to spice things up a bit." Jennie also noted that this strategy makes their appearances more "special" and allows them some privacy in their personal lives.

"I think the King and William are entirely right to be determined to keep the core of working royals a small, tight unit that can be accountable to the public purse," she concluded.

Jennie's insights emerged amidst whispers that Prince William is keen to carry on his father's legacy by significantly downsizing the Royal Family. A confidant revealed to The Daily Mail's Richard Eden: "He told me: 'When the older members of the family retire, His Royal Highness won't be inviting anyone else to become working royals."

Richard Eden stoked the flames of speculation with his comment: "It remains to be seen if he will even want his two younger children to be working royals,".

With Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, being the sole other Royal under 60, it suggests that when William ascends the throne and Kate steps into her role as Queen, they may stand as the only full-time royals. An insider expressed certainty about William's vision: "That is what William wants," they asserted.

Reports indicate that William is eyeing the more streamlined European Royal households as a blueprint for Britain's regal future. Yet, this idea of a trimmed-down monarchy has met with Princess Anne's critical eye.

During a rare chat with CBC News, she aired her doubts regarding these potential shifts.

She candidly conveyed her stance, saying: "Well, I think the 'slimmed down' was said in a day when there were a few more people around. It doesn't sound like a good idea from where I'm standing, I would say. I'm not quite sure what else we can do."

"Well, you know what you're getting because he's been practicing for a bit, and I don't think he'll change," she remarked. "You know, he is committed to his own level of service, and that will remain true."
