Ohio Valley officers say they were involved in a shooting on the 4th of July.

The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call of an intoxicated male shooting a gun on Wainwright Road in Wainright.

Officials say a caller, who was from a neighboring residence, said he saw the intoxicated man shooting in the direction of the shooter’s home and that his wife and some children were at the home.

Deputies say they arrived and saw the man who was in his garage with the overhead
garage door up. Deputies say they saw a gun in his hand and began commands to ask the man to drop the gun. Officials say he did not drop the gun and instead pointed the gun at
Deputies and two Deputies fired on him striking him in the arm and leg.

Officials say they went in and secured the weapon and began rendering first aid which included
putting on a tourniquet and bandaging his wounds while the Warwick Township Fire
Department and Smith Ambulance personnel were responding.

The male was transported to Aultman Hospital. The injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening and it was last reported to that the suspect is in stable condition.

The name of the suspect was not given at this time but was described as a 41-year-old white male.

Neither of the Deputies nor suspect’s family were physically injured in any way during the
    encounter.
