    Demolition causes months-long detour in Luzerne County

    BEAR CREEK TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — PennDOT announced a detour will be placed in Bear Creek Township until the Fall season during a Route 2035 bridge demolition.

    PennDOT states a detour is placed on Route 2035 in Bear Creek Township, Luzerne County for bridge demolition and new culvert placement.

    The detour will begin Monday, July 8, and continue through Fall of 2024.

    Detour from Route 2035:

    • Head north on Suscon Road towards Davis Drive
    • Continue onto Bear Creek Road
    • Make a sharp left onto PA- 315 S/Ziegler Street
    • Head southwest on PA-315 S towards Mayfair Drive
    • Turn left onto Westminster Road
    • Continue onto Old Pittston Boulevard
    • Continue onto Bald Mountain Road
    • Turn left onto Suscon Road

    When encountering a work zone, PennDOT asks drivers to follow the posted speed limit, turn on their headlights, pay close attention to signs and flaggers, and avoid all distractions.
