Mason Greenwood made a brief return to Manchester United's training ground on Monday for the first time in over two years . The forward was with his father as he held talks over his imminent exit from the club.

Greenwood, however, did not join the rest of the first team's opening pre-season training session as United have received offers for the forward from clubs such as Lazio and Marseille.

The recent developments indicate United's advanced negotiations with Marseille and there have been productive discussions with Greenwood regarding his footballing future.

Sources report that Greenwood had a brief meeting with key figures involved in football management at Carrington. The 22-year-old is facing the end of his contract next year.

Greenwood's last appearance at Carrington was in January 2022. Following an arrest later that month, charges levelled against him for attempted rape, coercive behavior, and assault were dropped in February 2023, reports the Manchester Evening News .

Greenwood's last game in a United shirt was their 1-0 win against West Ham United on 22nd January 2022. Following this he went on to score 1- goals in 36 games for Getafe.

It was reported by The Guardian on Monday that Marseille is in advanced talks with United to sign Greenwood. The player is believed to be valued at around $Xm (£40m/€Xm) by the Red Devils.

There are also believed to be offers on the table from Valencia and other clubs across Europe, although it is unclear at this stage if they come close to meeting United's valuation for the forward.
