LeBron James is all set to take part in the 2024 Olympics for Team USA and it appears his wife Savannah James needs to be thanked for that. ESPN's Tim Bontemps relayed that LeBron decided he would make that trip to France only after Savannah gave him clearance.

"LeBron James said once he got clearance from his wife to give up his summer to play for Team USA, he was all in on the experience."

I would say that was the right thing to do on LeBron's part. Over the last 20-odd years, the NBA offseason has been the only time of the year that Savannah gets to be with her husband for an extended period.

LeBron going to France for the Olympics would mean she would lose that bit of time together this year and that wouldn't have been ideal. I am not surprised, though, that Savannah gave the green light when the 39-year-old brought up the topic, given how supportive she has been when it comes to his career.

We have seen spouses of athletes want them to walk away from the game when they get to their late 30s, to spend time with the family. You would understand if Savannah went that route, with LeBron now having played 21 seasons in the NBA, but she hasn't. She has given him her support every step of the way and it's a big reason why he can still keep playing without a care in the world.

Savannah's clearance means the long wait to see LeBron play for Team USA once again, is finally coming to an end. The last time he suited up for his country was at the 2012 Olympics, where Team USA won the gold. It was the second gold medal that LeBron had won and I would expect him to win his third in France.

Savannah James Opened Up On Her Relationship With LeBron James

For the longest time, Savannah had stayed out of the spotlight, but that has changed recently. The 37-year-old has even started her own podcast named "Everybody's Crazy," and in the very first episode, Savannah spoke on her relationship with LeBron after 22 years together.

"So, like, I just passed my 10-year anniversary, and something that we want to be more intentional with is just making sure ... what our next phase of life looks like."

"So, we speak about that often, and you know, like, something that's really important to me is dating Like, yeah, we're married, we've been together for 22 years, but, like, I want to feel young and fun, so I want us to date, you know?"

"LeBron and I were together for 10 years before we got married, and I would say, for me, the biggest thing that I felt was just a sense of security. Like I felt like we had kids together already. I don't know but it was it was just more of a feeling."

"I can't say that it changed, but I will say that through our marriage, wanting to grow together, like, as husband and wife, it was really just setting intention and making sure that we just kind of recap."

"To be boyfriend and girlfriend for 10 years, and to start having kids and then to get married, I feel like those are phases and you just have to be able to know what exactly it is out of those phases that you want."

I think like most people involved in a very long-term relationship, Savannah just wants to make sure that spark never quite goes away. She wishes to go out on dates and plan for what lies ahead in the next phase when LeBron finally retires. Something tells me these two will figure it out.
