CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County is now accepting applications for those who need safe and affordable housing. However, due to a technical problem on their website, online applications are not yet available.

The application period for 2025-2026 builds opened Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. It will close in two weeks on July 23 at 5 p.m.

Until the technical issue is resolved, staff said applicants must fill out a physical form. Those interested can either pick up and complete a paper copy at the Champaign County ReStore, located at 1914 Glenn Park Drive in Champaign, or print out and mail their application.

Habitat staff noted that all applications received will be considered, and that the process is not on a first-come, first-served basis.

“People that might qualify with income, but have a lower credit score or just aren’t able to save for a down payment for a conventional loan. I think one of the main highlights of our program is that it’s a 0% interest mortgage, which is the best deal you’re going to get,” said Habitat for Humanity’s Family Services Director Allison Garrett.

Habitat for Humanity is also partnering with the Village of Rantoul to make their first 2025 project a new home build in Rantoul. Further inquiries can be directed via email to family@cuhabitat.org or phone at 217-819-5113.
