Firefighters respond to Coulson Gulch in Boulder County for wildfire

DENVER (KDVR) — Crews responded to a wildfire in Boulder County, according to the U.S. Forest Service of the Arapaho Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland.

The fire was estimated to be about a half acre as of about 1 p.m. and located just west of Button Rock Preserve. At about 1:55 p.m., the Forest Service reported that “multiple resources” were at the scene with crews working to build a containment line around the fire.

At about 5 p.m., the agency said the Coulson Gulch fire was contained, but that crews were responding to another fire in Boulder. The Dry Saint Vrain Fire was reported to be “currently smoldering” and estimated to be less than a quarter-acre. It is located just south of Dry Saint Vrain Trailhead, and a helicopter and engines were on scene.

The cause of both fires is currently unknown.

Aviation support was reported at the fire, with multiple completed bucket drops. A crew of firefighters had also been deployed to the fire via helicopter.

Although there were no closures reported, crews were advising the public to stay away from Johnny Park area and the Coulson Gulch Trailhead .

As of July 2, the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland were placed under Stage 1 Fire Restrictions .
