Go to this laid-back Korean spot in Russian Hill for one simple reason: the big, bubbling bowls of galbi jjim. Unlike other similar galbi jjim restaurants (yes, talking about you, Daeho ), you don’t need to endure hours of doom-scrolling before you’re seated. At Mashita, there’s rarely a wait for a table and the galbi jjim is among the best in the city. It comes in one size: massive. For $66, you get three metric tons of perfectly braised short ribs, lots of oversized tteokbokki, more carrots than you know what to do with, and a gooey cheese topping that’s melted via blowtorch. One order could easily feed four people. Everything else on the menu feels unnecessary except for the plump mandu, which you can get if the galbi jjim somehow isn't enough.
