(FOX40.COM) — An incident that could have had a deadly ending along the Feather River in Sutter County was turned into a successful rescue on Sunday.

While patrolling the Feather River Parkway area, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Boat Patrol noticed a group on a nearby beach calling for help.

As the boat patrol approached the beach they quickly noticed a person about 100 yards from the shore thrashing in the water.

The person was caught in a heavy current and was not wearing a lifejacket. Deputies threw the man a lifejacket and rescue rope.

After getting the man into the boat, deputies saw that a raft with two women onboard was also caught in a heavy current after they had attempted to save the drowning man.

The women were about a quarter mile down river and were recovered. All three people were taken back to their vehicles and required no medical attention.
