On Monday night, Memphis Grizzlies rookie Zach Edey made his NBA Summer League debut against the Utah Jazz.

After four years with the Purdue Boilermakers, Edey was selected with the No. 9 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The 7-foot-4 center was expected to go later in the draft, but the Grizzlies took a chance on the college superstar.

At the end of his first Summer League game, with 0.8 seconds remaining and the Grizzlies down 90-88, Edey's teammate Jake LaRavia was at the free-throw line with one attempt left. Needing two points, he intentionally missed, and Edey used his height advantage to tip the miss back in as the buzzer sounded, tying the game and sending it to overtime.

The Grizzlies wound up losing the game 97-95 in overtime. Edey finished the game with 14 points, 15 rebounds, and four blocks, showing the dominance on both ends of the court that he exhibited in college.

The buzzer-beater instantly went viral and NBA fans left their comments on the play.

Edey was a two-time National Player of the Year in college. In 2024, he led the nation in scoring while leading his team to a National Championship appearance. Purdue wound up losing to the UConn Huskies.
