More than a few eyebrows were raised when NBC Sports announced that Colin Jost would be part of the commentary team covering surfing at the 2024 Olympics in Tahiti. His wife included.

During a July 8 appearance on Today , Scarlett Johansson cheekily joked and seemed (semi) incredulous that her husband and Saturday Night Live star was headed to the South Pacific Ocean for two weeks later this month. While she was thrilled for her husband to get the job, she humorlessly described their dynamic and Jost’s sarcastic “woe-is-me” attitude for having to work this summer.

“When they announced the Paris Olympics, he immediately found out that they were doing the surf competition in Tahiti, which is so cool,” Johansson said. “He loves to surf, we have a place in Montauk, he’s always out there surfing.

"And somehow the dream became a reality, and now he’s going to be in Tahiti for two weeks, and I’m like, ‘Poor you,'" she said sarcastically. "He’s like, ‘Poor me, I’m going to be all over the place,’ and I’m like, ‘Are you?’” she said. “I think if you can have a pina colada on air while you’re working, that’s not technically work.”

In a way, this is more evidence that celebs really are like the rest of us. Even an Academy Award-nominated actress can't believe their partner is taking another surf trip.
