Referred to as “a Jessamine County tradition since 1961,” the Jessamine County Fair will be held from Monday, July 8 to Saturday, July 13.

The Jessamine County Fair Association, a non-profit organization, plans the Jessamine County Fair.

The fair will feature nightly contests, shows, concerts, and rides. The Jessamine County Fair is partnered with Casey’s Rides, a third-generation Kentucky-based amusement company, to provide carnival rides and games.

Along with carnival games and rides, each fair night will feature the Mark Comley Magic & Illusions Show, a petting zoo, pony rides, vendors, and crafts.

The county fair will also feature several standard events. There will be tractor and truck pulls most nights of the fair. On Friday, there will be a pony and mule pull. The last two nights of the fair will also feature a mud run. A barrel racing event will occur on Thursday night.

Eight pageants will be hosted throughout the week, including three Miss Jessamine County titles for different ages and several others. All of these can be seen at the Pageant pavilion throughout the week.

Additionally, the annual 4-H and FFA events will take place. There will be shows for beef, goats, sheep, alpacas and llamas, swine, and dairy. 4-H will also have exhibits on Friday, July 7, and Saturday, July 8.

Four new events will be held at the Jessamine County Fair this year. The first is “Family Night,” which will be held on Monday, July 8. The first 1,000 paid guests to the fair will receive a coupon for a free meal. There will also be special family-friendly events. There will be a foam party from 6:30 to 8:30 that night, a Superhero and Princess show, and a Jurassic Mark Dinosaur show.

The second new event is a Circus Thrill Show on Wednesday, July 10, at the Horse Show Ring.

The third new event is “Bulls and Barrels,” which will be held on Saturday, July 13. This event features bull riding and barrel racing.

Finally, the Jessamine County Fair will have new food trucks with new choices for guests to try.

Tuesday, July 9, will be Senior Citizens, Veterans, and Special Needs Day from 11:30 to 2:00 p.m. Any member of these groups will have free admission, free drinks, and free food from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. There will also be a few carnival rides for guests to ride for free, with reduced lights and sounds from 1:00 to 2:00pm.

The Jessamine County Fair will be at the County Fairgrounds, located at City/County Park. Admission is $15, which includes parking, all amusements, shows, and events. Readmission is allowed with this one-time ticket charge. Children ages two and under will receive free admission. For a complete schedule of events and more information, visit the Jessamine County Fair website or Facebook page.
