A 30-year-old woman from Fitzgerald has been charged in connection with the death of a four-year-old child. According to officials with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), agents were contacted on Wednesday, July 24, by the Fitzgerald Police Department to investigate the child's death. The GBI reports that the child was left unsupervised in an apartment and later gained access to a vehicle.

The victim, John William Hoffpauir, Jr., 55, of Houma, Louisiana, was working as a crane operator at the Cedar Springs wind energy construction site north of Casper and Glenrock under the control of Blattner Energy at the time of the accident.
