VIRGINIA—Former Minnesota District 06B Representative Jason Metsa, who was arrested Saturday on a probable cause charge of 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct - force or coercion — is set to be released from St. Louis County Jail Tuesday without charges.

According to Assistant St. Louis County Attorney Chris Florey, who was contacted via email by the Mesabi Tribune, said the matter is pending further investigation and review and "a charging decision has not been made."

Metsa, 43, who is also a former Deputy Commissioner for the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board, was booked at 11:48 a.m. Saturday, according to information on the St. Louis County Jail roster.

Metsa served as District 06B Representative from 2013 to 2018. He also ran—unsuccessfully—for the 8th District Congressional seat in 2018.
