After nearly two years in her capacity as Baltimore County’s chief of staff, Dori Henry will soon resign.

On Sept. 15, 2022, Henry officially began the position. Effective Aug. 9, she will step down from her county government role for another opportunity, County Executive Johnny Olszewski announced Tuesday morning.

“From the moment we took office, Dori been an integral partner in every major initiative our administration has undertaken and has been an invaluable leader in our work to build a better Baltimore County,” Olszewski said in a statement.

“Our communities are stronger today because of her unwavering commitment to innovative, accountable government and her passion for public service. I am confident she will continue to leverage her diverse skills to make immeasurable impacts in her future endeavors.”

Prior to her current role, Henry has served in various county government capacities. She began with Baltimore County in 2018 as the director of communications before becoming the deputy chief of staff for the Olszewski administration.

During the pandemic, Henry was a strategic adviser to the county executive on everything from the COVID-19 response and overdose prevention strategy to key personnel decisions and external affairs.

Henry replaced former Baltimore County Chief of Staff Patrick Murray around two years ago following his resignation. County government officials have not yet named a replacement for Henry.

Throughout her professional career, Henry has assumed numerous governmental roles, including assistant secretary for public affairs at the U.S. Department of Labor and special assistant at the U.S. Department of Justice in additional to roles with the state’s department of health and Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.
