FEMA teams will be in the Ohio Valley throughout the week as they begin another phase in the clean-up efforts for the storms that hit the region April 11-12, according to FEMA officials.

They said they will be answering questions about applications for Individual Assistance and helping residents who haven’t registered yet. Residents in Hancock, Kanawha, Marshall, Ohio, Roane, Wetzel, and Wood counties can apply for FEMA assistance to help with costs from damage from the storms on April 11-12.

FEMA officials are also warning residents to be aware of possible scams. They said representatives will have a laminated identification badge. They will also have each resident’s FEMA registration number for those who have already applied and will only ask for the last four digits for verification. FEMA officials also remind residents that representatives will never ask for payment.

FEMA officials say residents should apply for assistance by Sept. 3, 2024.
