Lubbock County Sheriff's officials are warning of a potential scam involving callers claiming to be LSO deputies, demanding payment to clear fictitious warrants.

"This is fraudulent activity, as law enforcement agencies would never ask for payment over the phone to clear a warrant," reads a statement from the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday.

Anyone who receives such a call is asked not to provide information about themselves, but to document the incident and call LSO's non-emergency number at 806-775-1600.
