Football: Titans’ Daniel Brunskill hosts new camp in Capital City on Tuesday

BISMARCK, N.D. — Tuesday was the start of a new football camp in the Capital City, aimed at giving two position groups much deserved recognition.

Tennessee Titans Daniel Brunskill has teamed up with the Bismarck Youth Football League to host a free camp for offensive and defensive lineman. Brunskill, an offensive lineman for the Titans, enjoys sharing his techniques with the campers and giving the men in the trenches some spotlight.

“A lot of them are still learning that stuff, so it’s nice to kinda bring some of those techniques and embrace being an offensive lineman,” he says. “A lot of those kids in the smaller leagues, some of them grow a lot faster than the others, and so they kinds get stuck playing offensive line. And they kind of think of it as it stinks that, that’s the only thing they can do when you got other kids scoring touchdowns. But, it’s really cool to have this camp and let those kids really flourish in that and be a part of it.”

The camp provides opportunites for not just youth football players. High school lineman from across Bismarck volunteer to help coach alongside Brunskill and coaches from the youth league, giving those of all ages a chance to be part of something special.

“Thinking back to being a kids this age, we didn’t have this and this is a new thing,” volunteer Sam Larson says. “So, this seems fun. I can coach and just give these kids a fun experience that I didn’t have.”

“It’s pretty fun,” camp participant Bogdan Ostapchuk adds. “I think everyone should join and play. It’s pretty fun to watch him. He taught me new things.”

This year’s camp had 105 participants from athletes in the third through eighth grade. Brunskill and the Bismarck Youth Football League look forward to making this an annual opportunity.
